What a great feeling to rescue an animal from certain death

She recalls a search for baby calf, missing 11 hours in neighbor's cornfield

It was so heartwarming to read of another animal lover who didn't want to give up on their baby. Congratulations to the Barnes family on finding their precious pet.

I have looked for hours trying to find missing pets and a few baby calves over the years and most of the time it doesn't turn out well.

Once a few years ago I searched in the neighbors cornfield that was about 2 to 3 feet tall for a baby calf that I thought was nearly dead for nearly 11 hours before I finally spotted him down under a tree asleep.

I figured he was gone; but to my amazement, when I got a little closer, he raised an ear.

I knew I had one chance to get him with the rope. Slipped closer and closer until the little booger was nabbed and from that point it was up the hill to the barn at an amazing pace.

What a great feeling to be able to rescue an animal from certain death.

I know Bob has such a great feeling of accomplishment and the love of his family for never giving up.

Go Bob. --Victoria Pike
