He was a member of the Athens Church of Christ. He was a native of Casey County and a resident of the county at the time of his death. He was the son of the late George E. McDonald & Lucy Belle Watson McDonald, and the widower of Lois Ann Phelps McDonald. He leaves five direct living descendants.
