Shirley Winfrey, 78, Burkesville, KY (1936-2015)


She was a member of Providence United Methodist, a former employee of Cumberland Valley Manor, Grumpy's Restaurant, and was a farmer and homemaker. She was a native of Cumberland County, KY and was a resident of the county at the time of her death. She was the daughter of the late Roscoe & Cecil Williams Crawley, and the widow of Landy Eli Winfrey, Jr. She leaves 14 direct living descendants.

Shirley Winfrey age 78 of Burkesville, KY passed away on Sunday, May 24, 2015 at Cumberland County Hospital, Burkesville.

Funeral service will be Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at 1pmCT, at Ballou & Stotts Funeral Home, 304 N. Main Street, Burkesville, KY with Bro. Charles Huddleston officiating. Burial will be in Burkesville Cemetery. Family requests visitation 4pm-9pmCT, Monday, May 25, 2015 at Ballou & Stotts Funeral Home in Burkesville.

Shirley was born on July 13, 1936 in Cumberland County, KY. She was the daughter of the late Roscoe and Cecil Williams Crawley. She died Sunday, May 24, 2015, in Burkesville, Cumberland County, KY, at the age of 78 years, 10 months, and seven days.

She was a member of Providence United Methodist, a former employee of Cumberland Valley Manor, Grumpy's Restaurant, and was a farmer and homemaker.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Landy Eli Winfrey, Jr., and six siblings, Howard Crawley, Stanley Crawley, T. C. Crawley, Harvey Crawley, Imanell Pierce, and Elizabeth Sparks Survivors include:
  • One son: Michael Winfrey of Bakerton, KY
  • One daughter: Leisa Riley of Bakerton, KY
  • Three sisters: Dole Burton of Indianapolis, IN, Jeanette Smith of Bowling Green, KY, and Helen Smith of Lawson Bottom, KY
  • Six grandchildren: Dana Cornelius, Megan Carter, Terra Riley, Sarah Riley, Brooke Moore, Jimmy Winfrey
  • Six great grandchildren: Merrik Cornelius, Allie Moore, Callie Gilbert, Aspen Carter, Maverick Cornelius, Prentis Key
  • and a host of other relatives and friends
