GBC combines dedication and memorial By: Mike Bennett Since the reopening of Gradyville Baptist Church on July 1, 2012, the congregation and community has been blessed with the hearing of church bells at the beginning of each service. That is until last fall when the roof and steeple renovations began. At the beginning of each service, Bro. Jackie Dudley would ring the church bell. He was a very dedicated member of GBC. He was very active in the reopening and restoration of the church. However, before the new steeple could be placed, Bro. Jackie went home to be with the Lord on Oct. 22, 2014. The congregation decided to have a bell dedication and memorial service with a moment of silence to show respect to our beloved and departed bell ringer. During Sunday morning's service on May 17, 2015, that service took place. The youngest member of the Dudley family (with a little help from her Dad) got the privilege of ringing the bell in honor of her great grandpa Jackie. This Memorial Day, Gradyville Baptist Church gives honor to Bro. Jackie and also to all the others who have gone before him. Thanks, Mike Bennett This story was posted on 2015-05-24 12:11:08
