Recanvass in Comer v Bevin ordered Thu 28 May 2015 Secretary Grimes received recanvass request from James Comer and Chris McDaniel today County boards of election across Kentucky will convene on Thursday, May 28, 2015 at 9amCT, local time to recheck and recanvass the voting machines, following the receipt of a written request from James R. Comer and Chris McDaniel, candidates for the Republican nomination for Governor and Lieutenant Governor. The Comer-McDaniel ticket currently trail Matt Bevin and Jeanean Hampton by 83 votes. Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes set the recanvass schedule after the request dated May 20, 2015, on a Comer-McDaniel letterhead, which read: "Pursuant to KRS 117.305, we hereby request a full and complete check and recanvass of every one of the voting machines and absentee ballots from all all precincts of all 120 counties involving our Republican Governor/Lieutenant races from this 2015 Primary Race."It was signed by James Comer and Chris McDaniel. The letter was stamped received and filed with the signature of Mary Sue Helm. Secretary Grimes had already sent county clerks information and forms for a potential recanvass prior to the election. County Boards of Election are to notify the candidates of the location of the recanvass and have been instructed to file their recanvass reports with the Secretary of State immediately on completion.
