Doug Beard: Jane Lampton marker more prominently displayed By Doug Beard Commentary I take pride in the many historical markers around our town. For me, the one honoring the mother of one of America's most prolific and enduring writers, Mark Twain, holds special significance. I know that these markers are placed by the State of Kentucky, but wouldn't it be great if this one could be re-finishing and placed in a prominent location? I think it would be of special interest to our citizens and our visitors. Maybe it could stand alone in a nice landscaped area with supporting family history? As is stands today, you really have to know it's there and the current condition is less that desirable . . . just a thought for a Monday morning. This story was posted on 2015-05-18 12:57:40
