Collision on Cumberland Parkway results in fire, possible injury

Adair County Fire Department responds extinguishes fire. Driver taken to hospital for possible injuries due to airbag deployment.

By Deputy Adam Cravens

The Adair Sheriff's Office responded with Adair EMS and Adair Fire on a two vehicle collision on the Cumberland Parkway Friday evening May 15, KY. The accident occurred when a 17 year old female from Columbia, KY, was operating a 1993 Toyota Corolla westbound, came upon a trail-behind vehicle for an oversized load.

The driver of the Corolla did not slow down in time or make a pass around the vehicle due to an uninvolved vehicle making a pass in the left hand lane.

The Corolla came back into the right lane and rear ended a 2006 Dodge van being operated by Lori Vroman 58, of Oil City, PA.

After impact the Corolla began smoking from under the hood and the female exited the vehicle before it caught fire. She was taken to Westlake by Adair EMS for possible face and head injuries due to airbag deployment.

Adair Fire Department also responded to the scene and extinguished car fire. There were a total of 10 firemen on scene.
