Herbert Franklin Ellis, 82, Russell Co., KY (1933-2015)

He was a highly respected member of the Russell County, KY, business community. He was former owner of Ellis' Dairy Dee and was a member of the Russell Springs Christian Church. He was a native of West Virginia, where his final resting place will be. Services will be in his adopted home, Russell County, KY. His wife, Betty Hastings Ellis, survives. He leaves 32 direct living descendants.

Herbert Franklin Ellis, 82, of Russell Springs, KY, died Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset, KY.

Funeral service for Herbert Franklin Ellis will be at 6pmCT, Friday, May 15, 2015, at the Russell Springs Christian Church, 315 N Main Street, Russell Springs, KY, with Bro. Jeff Eaton, Bro. Carroll Egnew, Bro. Jeff Griffin and Bro. Tony Stephens officiating. Visistation after 5pmCT, Thursday and 2pm-6pmCT, Friday all at the church. Burial in the Marmet Cemetery in Marmet, WV, on Saturday. Special Music will be by Phyllis Egnew, Julie Eaton, Heavenly Harmony. Active Pallbearers: Grandsons. Honorary Pallbearers: David Bostic, Van Johnson, Charles Gore, Danny Lawless, Garris Sullivan, Lonnie White, Danny Coffey, Tommy Cherry, Larry Miller, Dwight Terry, Jarvis Higginbotham,and Kenneth Stephens

He was born March 12, 1933 in Ashford, W. VA. to the late Daniel Webster & Nellie Barker Ellis. He died Tuesday, May 12, 2015, in Somerset, Pulaski County, KY, at the age of 82 years, two months.

He was former owner of Ellis' Dairy Dee and was a member of the Russell Springs Christian Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Peter Herbert Ellis and a sister, Georgia Frost.

He is survived by his wife Betty Hastings Ellis, and the following:
  • Five children: Joe (Tammie) Ellis, Somerset, KY; Keith (Teresa) Ellis, Russell Springs, KY; Mark (Kathy) Ellis, Russell Springs, KY; Uala (Greg) Gorman, Lexington, KY; and Timothy Ellis, Russell Springs, KY

  • Seventeen grandchildren

  • Eleven great grandchildren

  • Two sisters: May Lee Barker, Sevierville, TN; and Deloris Fosdick, TN
