Viola E. Thomas, 86, Dunnville, KY (1928-2015)

She was a native of Dogwood Gap, KY, and was a resident of Dunnville, KY, at the time of her death. She was a longtime educator in the Adair County School system. She was a great teacher and friend. She was the daughter of the late James Arlis and Hazel Sanders Clarkson and the widow of Delmar Ray Thomas.

Viola E. Thomas, age 86 of Dunnville, KY, passed away on Thursday April 30, 2015 at Liberty Care and Rehabilitation Center, Liberty, KY.

Funeral Services will be held 1pmCT/2pmET Sunday May 3,, 2015 at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel, 142 KY 49, Liberty, KY with Rev. Steve Janes officiating. Burial will be in the Cold Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be held 5pm-8pmCT/6pm-9pmET, Saturday May 2, 2015 and after 8amCT/9amET, on Sunday May 3rd, 2015, at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel.

She was born in Dogwood Gap, KY on September 15, 1928. She was daughter of the late James Arlis and Hazel Sanders Clarkson. She died Thursday, April 30, 2015, in Liberty, Casey County, KY, at the age of 86 years, seven months, and 15 days.

She was a Retired School Teacher.

Survivors include:
  • Two Sons: J.D. Thomas of Dunnville, KY; and Eric Thomas of Advance, IN

  • Three grandchildren: Chris Thomas, Tammy Miliser and Steven Thomas
  • Several great-grandchildren
  • and three sisters: Nelda Walker of FL, Lula Petty and Neleta Clarkson both of Jamestown, KY
Besides her parents she was also preceded in death by her spouse, Delmar Ray Thomas and two brothers, Curtis and Victor Clarkson.
