Editorial commentary

If we want our Downtown to turn the corner toward being the cultural and economic center it once was, among many other things,we must make it more comfortable and inviting.

The two fountains, the sitting area on the Southwest corner of the Square, the flowerbeds, remodeled buildings, newly painted buildings, benches and the Redbuds are making a difference

However, there is much more needed and I think the folks at Rumors Hair Salon are doing something that I would encourage every business to emulate. I get my hair cut the old fashion way at a barber shop but these girls got my attention.

To use an old, well-worn cliche', the bottom line is A. we don't have to wait on a government grant B. we don't have to make a master plan or C. go take out a loan to make our Downtown warm, friendly and receptive to visitors both local and from off.

One person at a time, one business at a time, one building owner at a time can make a difference. One + one + one + one + one is probably ten or more.
