A reminder on radio station dial position Lisa Clark writes: Our station, WAIN, on the dial is 93.5 . . . NOT 92.5. - LISA CLARKThanks, Lisa Clark, for catching that before 6amCT. I do know that. I know it's 93.5. But my fingers, apparently didn't. Thanks to you, it should be fixed if I mashed all the right buttons. Of course, we codgers would, if asked, first give the Day Time Radio numbers, 1270AM, rather than night time radio, 93.5. Same as we still occasionally give 192-A as our phone number. You gotta overlook errors of Codgerdom. Still, thanks for evoking memories of the 50's, when we listened to all live broadcasts with "Lanny Bur-shay," Beanpole, aka Hudson Willis; Alan Reed, one or both of the Salmon boys, Sheily (sp) Bybee and the farm report, the Crossroads Ramblers, Maurice T. Keys. If an anachronism slipped in, it's just a brain transmission problem. My brain is still the wonderful Powerglide model, cursed today in the memory of many - but what a blessing to paperboys with Bel-Airs! And yes, if we all drove Chevrolet with Powerglide, safety issues would never be raised. It seemed impossible to attain lethal speed with them, unless one floorboarded it from Yarberry's Store to and down and up the Russell Creek Hills. Then a Bel Air with Powerglide, I'm told, would bury the hand at 108 miles per hour, and top the hill at 55 - slower if one let up on the gas. - ED WAGGENER This story was posted on 2015-04-02 05:55:46
