Marie Richerson Shawen, 82, Taylor Co., KY (1933-2015)

She professed faith in Christ and was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. She was a former employee of Fruit of The Loom and was an Avon Representative. She was a native of Taylor County, KY, and a resident of the county at the time of her death. She was the daughter of the late James Raley Richerson and Lillian Deener Richerson. Her husband of 57 years, James Shawen, survives. She leaves seven direct living descendants.

Marie Richerson Shawen died at 1:18amET, Saturday, February 28, 2015 in Louisville, KY, at the age of 82.

Visitation will be from 4pm-7pmCT/5pm-8pmET, Monday, at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 2pmET, Tuesday, March 3, 2015, at the Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home, 418 Lebanon Avenue, Campbellsville, KY, officiated by Dr. James Jones. Burial will be in Campbellsville Memorial Gardens, 700 Old US 68, Campbellsville, KY.

Marie Richerson Shawen of Campbellsville, daughter of the late James Raley Richerson and Lillian Deener Richerson, was born February 19, 1933 in Taylor County, Kentucky. She died Saturday, February 28, in Campbellsville, Taylor County, KY, at the age of 82 years, nine days.

She professed faith in Christ and was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. She was a former employee of Fruit of The Loom and was an Avon Representative.

Uniting in marriage to James Shawen March 2, 1957, she became an army wife and was therefore able to travel and see the world.

She is survived by:
  • Her husband, James Shawen of Campbellsville
  • One daughter and two sons: Darla Shawen Callahan and Greg Shawen of Campbellsville and Gary Shawen and wife Kimberly of Somerset;
  • Three grandchildren, Brad Callahan, Hannah Shawen and Alexander Shawen;
  • Three great-grandchildren, Shelby Callahan, Sydney Callahan and Sadie Callahan;
  • One brother, Robert Earl Richerson and wife Nancy of Louisville;
  • Several nieces and nephews
  • Many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by one brother and three sisters: William Richerson, Gladys Richerson O'Banion, Alice Richerson and Deronda Richerson.
