ACJE Stephens Sends Statement on Conditions 21 Feb 2015 Flash flooding/ponding may make Adair Roads Hazardous From the office of Adair Co. Judge Executive Micheal Lee Stephens: After a winter weather briefing with the National Weather Service, we want to advise the residents of Adair County to expect mostly increasing rain conditions today and want to make you aware that we are now under a flood watch through midnight tonight. We expect extreme amounts of standing water and "ponding" conditions on the roads, which could make them very dangerous. We are looking at rebounding temperatures for the next 36 hours and then possibly of below zero temperatures around Tuesday mornijng. Adair County residents should take extra precautions. Once again, we need to be prepared for dangerous road conditions and plan ahead. We are asking that residents remain at home and off the roads as much as possible. If the weather event proceeds as predicted this could be, once again, a real challenge to the residents of Adair County and we ask that you take this weather warning very seriously. We will update you as information becomes available to us. Please contact your magistrate for road clearing requests and they are working with our office and the road department for processing. Please take time to check on all elderly family members, neighbors and all pets and farm animals. The shelter located in the basement of the annex building will remain open and for emergency assistance call 911. The Judge/Executive office telephone number is 270-384-4703.
