Mail deliveries have had multiple obstacles this week First there was the Monday Federal Holiday, doubling Tuesday's delivery. Dispatches from Elizabethtown have arrived late each week. And, despite heroic efforts by road crews, the weather has delivered fierce blows. Patrons can help, this postman's wife says. And many have. Click on headline for complete story By Janet Hutcheson In regards to regular mail service everyone should understand that just like the school busses, the mailman has to be able to get to all the boxes along their route. This snow came at an extra bad time because the post office was closed on Monday and that put them with an extra load of mail already. The mail comes in from Elizabethtown and the delivery truck has been delayed every day which also hurts getting the mail out to all patrons on a regular delivery schedule. If people able to do so would clean the snow away from their boxes it would help mail delivery immensely. I know all this to be true because my husband is one of those carriers out there in the cold and nasty mess trying his best to deliver the mail! He has needed to be pulled out several times this week even with 4 wheel drive! One lady yesterday left him a drink and snack in her box and he was very grateful because he had not even taken time to stop and eat all day! --Janet Hutcheson Comments re article 73344 Charles Marshburn Mail Service This story was posted on 2015-02-20 12:00:26
