VFW Post 6097 votes unanimously to support VA Clinic effort

VFW Post 6097 fully behind Chester Whittington's idea for a multi-county Veterans Administration Clinic in Columbia. Petitions already being circulated by its members to validate public opinion on the proposal.

By Ed Waggener

The Columbia VFW 6097 voted unanimously to back the effort to secure a multi-county Veterans Administration Clinic in Columbia, KY, at its Thursday, 12 Feb 2015 meeting.

Commander Joe Hare said that the Post will promote the idea in every way. "Some our members already have been getting signatures on a petition we have started. Soon, there will be an open house at the Post for the purpose of veterans coming by and signing, if they have not already signed."

Attendance at the meeting was larger than usual, with members of the Post who live in Russell and Cumberland Counties attending in support of the idea, which, Commander Hare noted, was actually developed by Chester Whittington, the spokesperson who presented it to Adair Fiscal Court on Tuesday, 10 Feb 2015.
