Clyde Edward Pennington, age 82, of Edmonton, KY, died Thursday, January 15, 2015, at T J Samson Hospital, Glasgow, KY.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 18, 2015, at 2pmCT, at the McMurtrey Funeral Home, 2232 Summer Shade Road, Summer Shade, KY. Visitation will begin on Saturday, January 17, 2015, from 2pm-8pmCT, and continue Sunday morning after 7amCT, until time of services.


Clyde Edward Pennington, 82, Metcalfe Co., KY (1932-2015)


Born June 29, 1932 in Edmonton, Metcalfe County, KY, he was a son of the late Walter and Janie Garmon Pennington. He died Thursday, January 15, 2015, in Glasgow, Barren County, KY, at the age of 82 years, six months, and 17 days.

He was a farmer and of the Holiness faith.

Survivors include
  • Daughters: Kathy (Clay Cox) Hurt, Bowling Green, Sheila (Alan) Hornback, New Albany, IN: Bonnie (Marty) Devore, Springfield, KY; Betty Wilson, Burkesville, KY; and Janie Pennington, Burkesville, KY

  • One son: Tommy (Kirby England) Pennington, Edmonton, KY

  • One stepdaughter: Martha Norris, Summer Shade, KY

  • One sister: Della Davidson, Burkesville, KY

  • Twelve special grandchildren

  • Eleven great grandchildren

  • And four great great grandchildren
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Pennington; the mothers of his children, Shirley Perkins Pennington and Dorthy Devore Pennington; five brothers, Radford, Leon, Lester, Thomas, and Paul Pennington; three sisters, Stella Stilts, Bina Bunch, Mary and Pearlie Pennington; and one step daughter, Mary Bryant.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the funeral fund.

McMurtrey Funeral Home, 2232 Summer Shade Road, Summer Shade, KY, in charge of arrangements.
