Orvis Turner, 79, Adair County, KY, (1935-2015)

He was a member of Bethlehem Separate Baptist Church retired after 40 years from Louisville Gas & Electric Company in Louisville, KY. He was a native of Columbia, KY, and a resident of the county at the time of his death. He was the son of hte late Denver C. & Blanche Curry Turner. His wife, Brenda Carman Turner, survives. He leaves 10 direct and two step living descendants.

Orvis Turner age 79 years of Columbia, KY and formerly of Louisville, KY passed away Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at 9:40amCT, in Hardinsburg, KY.

The funeral service will be Friday, January 9, 2015 at 11amCT, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY. Clergy officiating will be Bro. Troy Grider & Bro. Raymond Atwood. Interment will be in Columbia Cemetery, 315 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY. Visitation will be after 3:30pmCT, Thursday, January 8, 2015.

He was born on June 11, 1935 in Columbia, KY. He was the son of the late Denver C. & Blanche Curry Turner. He died Tuesday, January 6, 2015, in Hardinsburg, Breckenridge County, KY, at the age of 79 years, six months, and 26 days. He is survived by his wife, Brenda Carman Turner of Hardinsburg, KY, and the following:
  • One daughter: Anna (James) Walters of Brooks, KY

  • Two sons: John (Lisa) Turner of Louisville, KY; and Adam Turner of Caneyville, KY

  • One step daughter: Pam Nalley Louisville, KY

  • Four grandchildren: David Walters, Lauren Walters, Jonathan Turner and Alissa Turner

  • One step grandson: Joshua Neal

  • Four great grandchildren: Tyler, Andrew and Abby Walters and Mylie Funk

  • And nieces, nephews & a host of other relatives and friends
He was preceded in death by one brother, Hansel Turner.

He was a member of Bethlehem Separate Baptist Church retired after 40 years from Louisville Gas & Electric Company in Louisville, KY.

Family has requested in lieu of flowers a donation in his memory to Bethlehem Separate Baptist Church C/o P. O. Box 236, Columbia, KY 42728 and may also be made at the funeral home.
