Special ColumbiaMagazine.com report

The Adair County Fiscal Court held a special called meeting Monday morning, January 5, 2014, with County Judge Executive Mike Stephens presiding for the first time, and all members of the court present.

The meeting was largely an organizational one.

Judge Stephens asked for and received approval of Holly Grimsley as the his Deputy Judge Executive. Grimsley had given notice to the Economic Development Board that she would be leaving that part-time post to devote full time to the CJE job.

The most notable change was his decision to replace County Road Foreman Jobe Darnell with Terry Corbin, who resigned a position with Gaddie Shamrock to take the job.

Barry Corbin will remain County Treasurer

One position not listed below, that of County Treasurer, will not change. Barry Corbin will remain in that position. The reason he is not listed below is that the office of Treasurer is on a Fiscal, not calendar year, Deputy CJE Holly Grimsley explained.

Surety bonds approved

Surety bonds for the County Judge Executive, the Deputy Judge Executive, the Finance Officer, County Clerk, Sheriff, Jailer, Magistrates, Coroner, Surveyor, and Constables were approved.

Line of Succession established

The court also establish the line of succession, with Magistrate Billy Coffey (District 5) first in line of succesion in instance where the CJE cannot carry out the duties of the office; and Magistrate Sammy Baker (3), second.

New meeting time

The court also set a new time for meetings, at least during the winter. Regular meetings will be at 6pmCT, each second Tuesday, in the basement of the Adair Annex, 424 Public Square, Columbia, KY.

Major actions also included:

Approval of Judge's Appointments
