She was the daughter of the late James and Frances Roach Brown, and the widow of Hollis Coomer. She leaves 12 direct living descendants spanning four generations. She attended Big Creek Baptist Church and was a homemaker

Bertie Coomer, 96 a resident of Summit Manor Health and Rehab Center in Columbia, KY formerly of the Weed Community in Adair Co. KY passed away, Sunday, December 28, 2014 at 6:50pmCT, at Summit Manor, Columbia, KY.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at 2pmCT, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY, with Bro. Danny Wayne Sexton, Bro. Herbert Janes and Bro. Rod Wally the officiating clergy. Interment will be in the Moore Cemetery, 225 Prices Creek Road, Adair County, KY. The family request visitation after 3:30pmCT on Tuesday, December 30, 2014, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home

She was born Friday, October 4, 1918 in Weed, Adair County, KY. She was the the daughter of the late James and Frances Roach Brown. She died Sunday, December 28, 2014, in Columbia, Adair County, KY, at the age of 96 years, two months, and 24 days.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Hollis Coomer, on March 25, 1979.

She is survived by the following:
  • One daughter: Ineze Blythe and husband Danvel of Louisville, KY

  • Two sons: Cordell Coomer and wife Leva Dean Coomer of Portland, KY; and Carl Coomer and wife, Sylvia of Columbia, KY

  • One brother: James Brown of Edmonton, KY

  • One sister: Mary Lena Sneed of Russell Springs, KY

  • Three grandchildren; Rodney Blythe, Randy Dell Coomer, Shelia Sexton

  • Three great grandchildren

  • Three great great grandchildren.
Mrs. Coomer attended the Big Creek Baptist Church and was a homemaker.
