Martha Jane York, 73, Burkesville, KY (1941-2014)

She was the matriarch of a large, respected family, with strong family ties in Cumberland, Adair, Taylor County and elsewhere. She was a native of Cumberland County, KY and a resident of Cumberland County, KY, at the time of her death.She was the daughter of the late Herman and Cassie Riley. She was the widow of Donell York. She leaves 11 direct and eight step living descendants.

Martha Jane York, age 73, of Burkesville, died Sunday, December 7, 2013 in Glasgow, KY.

A graveside service will be conducted at 1pmET, Wednesday, December 10, 2014, at the Burkesville Cemetery, Old Columbia Road, Burkesville, KY.



Martha Jane York, 73, Burkesville, KY (1941-2014)

She was born May 19, 1941 in Cumberland County, KY. She was the daughter of the late Herman and Cassie Riley. She died Sunday, December 7, 2013 in Glasgow, Barren County, KY, at the age of 73 years, six months, and 18 days.

Also preceding her in death were her husband Donell York; brothers, Homer Dyer, Ralph Dyer and William Dyer and sisters, Eva Mae Thrasher and Joyce Farlee.

She is survived by the following:
  • Two daughters: Teresa Morgan and her husband, Steve, of Campbellsville, KY and Lisa Young and her husband Doug of Paducah, KY

  • A step-son: Steve York and his wife, Marcella of Columbia, KY

  • Four grandchildren

  • seven step-grandchildren

  • Five great-grandchildren

  • Four brothers: Roger Dyer, of Breeding, Larry Dyer and Mervin Dyer of Burkesville, KY; and Donnie Dyer of Columbia, KY

  • And two sisters: Sandra Spears and Nancy Groce of Burkesville, KY
