It's looking like best Christmas in Columbia ever

Christmas in Columbia is a program of the Columbia/Adair County Chamber of Commerce, 201 Burkesville Street, Columbia, KY
As always, CM readers will be able to use the Events schedule to follow both the schedule and, should it happen, changes or cancellations in the schedule. CM will be posting all day. Just remember that the complicated dance behind the scenes means that changes are handled first and seamlessly for events already posted. (Changes for others are available at a nominal charge.) We'll waive most of the deadlines for late posts today. If a submission is not posted within 2 hours, it means there's a problem. Should that happen, please don't send an additional email, just Call 270-250-2730 - we'll do our best to help.

A Special ColumbiaMagazine.com Best Ever Christmas in Columbia story

From the look of things around Columbia and a check of the weather, and a look at the large number of entries in CM Events this morning, this could very well be the biggest Christmas in Columbia, ever.

It will kick off this morning at 7pm with the Edgar Troutman Memorial Breakfast, the long running Rotary Club tradition recently renamed for the late, distinguished Rotarian. It will be at the Columbia Baptist Church, 201 Greensburg Street, just yards away from this morning's CIC focal point, Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe, which this year is at capacity on the first and second floor of the building.

Rains are predicated this morning by the National Weather Service - but Ellen Zornes of the Adair Heritage Association, emphasizes that Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe will be open, regardless of the weather. That will be so when the activities at Lindsey Wilson's Holloway Wellness Center's Christmas Carnival's activities, 1pm-4pmCT, get underway there. Thee will be with Children's crafts, cooking decoration, Chritmas Stories, Inflatable and many other children's activities, at LWC Health & Wellness Center, 399 Williams Street, Columbia, KY. It's like an indoor Christmas Fair.

Santa himself will arrive by Fire Truck at 1:30pmCT, So weather won't be a factor, so much, there, either. The weatherman is calling for less rain and falling temperatures - to go no lower than 35 degrees F. this year, but with all the indoor activities at the Historic Courthouse and Lindsey Wilson, the weather should actually increase participation.

There seems to be only the slightest chance that the weather will necessitate in invocation of a rain date (14 Dec 2014) for the 24th Annual Parade Under the Lights this evening.

The Parade is themed "Christmas Memories" and starts starts at 6pmCT, from Industrial Drive, North on Jamestown Street, around the Square past the Reviewing Stand at the traditional location in front of the Adair Annex, 424 Public Square, Columbia, KY, and then will proceed and out Burkesville Street. Parade goer are encouraged to come early stake favorite viewing spot early.
