Souse sandwiches at Reece's Market topped off bird hunts Comments about: Billy Joe Fudge: Old time hog-killings ended with souse making Geniece Marcum remembers that the highlight of bird hunting for her late husband Earl Reid Marcum, and brothers-in-law Russell Hughes and Brent Anderson was to stop by after the hunt at Reece's Market on S Main in Edmonton for souse sandwiches. She doesn't remember if it was homemade - made in Metcalfe County - or not. If not, it was probably Fischers. A Kentucky company which turns out superb souse. She remembers that Earl Reed liked to eat souse on white bread. And he like hot sauce, the hotter the better. His drink of choice was orange or grape soda. There was often more talk about the souse sandwiches, after the hunts, than about the hunt, unless, as so often happened, it was to tell stories about Bill Reese, the proprietor of Reese's Market, an unforgettably good humored, witty man.
