Election Nov 2014: Why were some write-ins not reported?

Matthew Coomer writes:
I am very curious as to why there are names that are not being reported as being voted for. I know I wrote in a few names and so did some of my family and friends, I can only conclude that votes may have been discarded. I think this needs to be investigated. - Matthew Coomer
Matt Coomer: Thanks for your letter. The answer may be that election laws on write-ins is very clear: Write in candidates had to register by 24 Oct 2014 in order to be counted. Only Brandon Thompson, for PVA, and Ben Arnold, Candidate for Mayor of Columbia, filed in Adair County. However, because of glitches in the process, somewhat new to Columbia/Adair County, there is expected to be full review of the 2014 write-ins to assure that problems do not occur in the future, as well as to assure that all eligible voters be allowed to vote.
