Six hundred enjoy Columbia United Methodist's first Fall Festival Click on headline for story with photo(s) By George Kolbenshlag Columbia United Methodist Church held its first, but probably not its last neighborhood fall festival Saturday, October 25, 2014, in the church's parking lot and park-like surroundings on Burkesville Street. The festival was open and free to all, and about 600 of all ages, many of them children, joined the many church members who volunteered hours of their time to make the festival a great success. At times the lines of children were long waiting to enjoy the inflatables, games and a balloon artist, cake walks, pumpkin decorating, face painting and many other crafts and contests. There was no charge for the barbecue, hot dogs, funnel cakes, cotton candy, popcorn and other goodies or for any of the activities. The porch of the Columbia Food Pantry was a stage for continuous live music. It was a colorful, happy gathering. Columbia United Methodist thanks the many volunteers and festival goers who made the festival a success and almost assures it will not be the last Columbia United Methodist Church Fall Festival.
