On the stillbirth of a precious baby, Anne Elise Thompson

Anne Elise Thompson's stillbirth was a devasting blow to her parents, but in this touching tribute to a daughter they were already completely and madly in love with, her father writes, But one thing we are certain of: we are people of faith and we serve a GOOD GOD. He is not in the business of killing babies. He gives good gifts. The devil is a thief, a murderer, and a liar. (James 1:17; John 10:10) We lay blame where blame belongs. We appreciate everyone allowing us the time to heal and mourn properly. We know you, our friends and family, love us and are there for us. Rest assured if we need any of you we will reach out. Thank you so much for giving us a season of privacy.' - J BRANDON THOMPSON

from J. Brandon & Tiffany Thompson

News travels quickly in small communities, so I felt I should make a public statement, as hard as that is for me to do right now. As many of you may have already heard, today, October 25th, was both the best and worst day of our lives. In the early morning hours my wife awoke to some bleeding, and little movement from our typically active baby girl. She wasn't technically due for another 2 1/2 weeks, but we decided to make the journey to TJ Samson Hospital in Glasgow to be on the safe side.

When we arrived they could find no heartbeat which had been an easy task on every prior visit. Tiffany was rushed into an emergency c-section but our precious Anne Elise was stillborn. She was completely perfect in every visible way, from her head full of thick sandy blonde hair, to her little crooked toes, she was beautiful and looked just like her mama, except she had my cleft chin (my worst trait). We are still awaiting test results to tell us the cause.

Anyone who knows us knows how completely and madly in love with her we already were and therefore how devastated we are by this tragedy.

But one thing we are certain of: we are people of faith and we serve a GOOD GOD. He is not in the business of killing babies. He gives good gifts. The devil is a thief, a murderer, and a liar. (James 1:17; John 10:10) We lay blame where blame belongs.

Naturally, we will mourn, but we do not mourn as those without any hope (1 Thessalonians 4:13-14). We know the God of All Comfort, The Prince of Peace (Jesus), and He gives us a peace that surpasses human understanding (2 Corinthians 1:3; Philippians 4:7).

We appreciate everyone allowing us the time to heal and mourn properly. We know you, our friends and family, love us and are there for us. Rest assured if we need any of you we will reach out. Thank you so much for giving us a season of privacy.

I ask you to do a couple of favors for me though: 1. Please keep us in your prayers. We need them. 2. If you have children or grandchildren, hug them extra tight tonight and thank God for His precious gifts. Some of us will not have that opportunity again in this life. And 3. It's ok to talk to us about our little one. She's gone, but she was such a blessing to our lives over the past 9 months. We are happy to tell you about her. We don't want anyone to feel awkward.

We will share more details about our sweet little girl's funeral services when arrangements are completed. God Bless You all, and again, thank you for your prayers!

J. Brandon Thompson
