It is with great sorrow that we report the passing of Terry Lantis Long. He was 65. Terry passed away peacefully on October 12, 2014, after a long battle with diabetes.

Born in Burkesville, Kentucky, on January 21, 1949, Terry was a loving husband, father and grandfather and was proud to call Cumberland County his home. Terry spent 22 years as a member of the Cumberland Country Board of Education where he took great pride in making sure all of the kids on his bus arrived home safely. He also enjoyed driving the girls basketball teams to their road games. After retiring in 2008, he enjoyed going on horseback riding adventures, spending time with family and spoiling his grandkids. Terry thought of himself as a farmer, growing tobacco and raising horses.

  • Daughters: Teresa (Dana) Elliott of Hilham, TN; Debbie (Brian) Davis of Austin, Texas; Michelle Long (Brandi Berry) of Burkesville, KY; Beth (Juvon) Maxey of Burkesville, KY; and Monica Long of Bowling Green, KY

  • Five grandchildren: Grace, Rachel and William Craig Elliott, Adyson Davis and Paizlee Maxey.
Terry was preceded in death by his parents, John L. Long and Pearlie I. Long; as well as his brother, Jerry L. Long; his sister, Pamela L. Hill and son, Eddie A. Long.
