Wet-Dry Petition short of valid signatures

By Ed Waggener
ColumbiaMagazine.com

Adair County Clerk Joyce Rodgers, contacted this morning, said that while the official count is not complete she has found enough invalid signatures in the petition to be certain that that the petition has failed. Rodgers said that the office does continue the checking each signature, and will give an official number later. The petition needed 1788 valid signatures to be put on the ballot.

That number for a future effort, would be determined by the calculating 25% of the vote in the next preceding general election.
