He was a member of New Zion Baptist Church, Louisville, KY and retired from General Electric. He was a member of the highly regarded Stone family of South Adair County, KY. He was the son of the late George P. and Ruth Bowe Stone.

James Wilkie Stone, 73, of Louisville, KY, died Thursday, October 9, 2014 at 7:27amET at the Golden Living Center-Hillcreek in Louisville, KY.

At Wilkie's request, no visitation or service will be held. Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY, honored his request.


James Wilkie Stone, 73, Adair Co., KY (1940-2014)

He was born October 11, 1940, in Adair County, KY. He was the son of the late George P. and Ruth Bowe Stone. He died Thursday, October 9, 2014 at 7:27amET at the Golden Living Center-Hillcreek in Louisville, Jefferson County, KY, at the age of 73 years, 11 months, and 29 days.

He was a member of New Zion Baptist Church in Louisville, KY and retired from General Electric.

Survivors include the following:
  • One sister, Shirron Sue Stone, of Louisville, KY

  • Three brothers: Charles Stone of New Albany, IN, Chelsie Stone of Columbia, KY, and Oliver "Cat" Stone of Louisville, KY

  • Several nieces and nephews, including Bernie Stone, who was like a son to him.
