By Hunter Durham

I am very saddened by the death of Christine.

Christine and Hurt were like family to me.

As a young person, I stayed at Lawrence and Ella Gilpins' home for days and weeks at a time and became part of the Gilpin family.

Hurt and Christine lived in the Chicago area and I would go visit them there.

I remember a story which shows the great love for others that Christine and Hurt had. Joyce and I were on our way in 1962 to Yellowstone Park, hwere we camped out for near six weeks, while we were waiting for me to enter law school.

I had goine somewhere with Phyllis and others and when I cam back, Hurt and Christine had put new tires on our Vauxall automobile. They said, "We can't let you drive that far on tires that are worn out."

Christine was so kind, always caring for others, and looked after the needs of others, all the while raising three wonderful chlldren.

She always had a smile to greet everyone and saw no strangers.

God will be blessed with her presence in heaven. Hurt is there to greet her.
