Pumpkin Patch 2014 for ACPC and ACES: Synergy in action Click on headline for story with photo(s); posting in progress By Shamarie Claiborne and Sheila Willis News from the Adair County School District Yesterday's 2014 Pumpkin Patch was a perfect example of synergy in action. Teachers, staff, and community members worked together to create this year's event for all of the Adair County Primary Center (ACPC) students and preschoolers from the Adair County Elementary School. ACPC teachers Sarah Burton and Luci Irvin collaborated with Adair County High School (ACHS) teachers Kirby Hancock and Sheila Willis to create the fun-filled day for students. Due to the current rains, the event was held in the back parking lot of ACHS. Students were treated to a hay ride provided by the Adair County Future Farmers of America (FFA) which transported them from their school to the patch and then back. Once the children arrived at this year's "pumpkin patch" they participated in a ton of activities that included a petting zoo --provided by the Hagedon family, a nutrition lesson -- hosted by our own Director of Food Services Carol Roy and Dana Feese, a hay maze, campfire story, face painting, square dancing, yard games, a science lesson taught by ACHS students, and of course the higlight of the day - picking their pumpkin.
