The shift began Wednesday, October 8 at 09, northbound traffic has been shifted shifted to allow for work in the right and center lanes between mile points 112 and 118. Two lanes of traffic will be maintained in each direction. A temporary median cross-over will be used to shift one lane of traffic to the southbound lanes while crews replace the pavement in the northbound lanes (see schematic below). Northbound traffic will be separated from southbound traffic by a concrete median barrier wall. Northbound I-65 motorists exiting at KY 245 (Exit 112), KY 480 (Exit 116) and KY 44 (Exit 117) must stay in the right lane to exit during this phase of construction. This traffic pattern will remain in place for several weeks while contract crews work to replace various sections of damaged concrete pavement. The speed limit in the work zone is reduced to 55 MPH and double fines are being enforced. This work is part of $20.7 million project for removal and replacement of various sections of concrete pavement across a 20-mile section of I-65. Construction began in March and is scheduled for completion by the end of 2014. The date and duration of this work may be adjusted if inclement weather or other unforeseen delays occur. Dial 511 or log on to 511.ky.gov for the latest in traffic and travel information in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. This story was posted on 2014-10-09 04:42:47
