Frances Johnson, Taylor County, KY (1924-2014)

She professed faith in Christ and was a member of Campbellsville Christian Church. She was a proud graduate of Centre College in 1946, having received a Bachelor of Science Degree. She was a retired math teacher and librarian, church secretary, volunteer at The Daughter's of American Revolution and employee of Dewure High School in Zinbabwe and an avid supporter of Central African Mission Service. She was a distinguished member of a prominent old line Adair County, KY, family. She was the daughter of the late Horace Cundiff and Victoria Hughes Walker, and the widow of Doug Johnson, her husband of over 44 years. She leaves 13 direct living descendants. She will be laid to rest in Columbia, Adair County, KY

Frances Cundiff Johnson, 90, died at 8:47amET, Wednesday, October 8, 2014 in Elizabethtown, KY.

Funeral service will be at 10amCT/11amET, Saturday, October 11, 2014, at Parrott &Ramsey Funeral Home, 418 Lebanon Avenue, Campbellsville, KY, by Minister Joe Hatchett. Burial will be in Columbia City Cemetery, 315 Campbellsville Street, Adair County, Kentucky. Visitation will be 4pm-7pmCT/5pm-8pmET, Friday, October 10, 2014, at the Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home.



Pallbearers: Allen Johnson, Greg Johnson, Ricky Malone, Russell Mongtomery, John Walker, and William A. Wethington.

Frances Cundiff Johnson of Campbellsville, KY, was the daughter of the late Horace Cundiff and Victoria Hughes Cundiff. was born in Jefferson County, Kentucky, Thursday, July 22, 1924. She died Wednesday, October 8, 2014 in Elizabethtown, KY, at the age of 90 years, two months, and 17 days.

She professed faith in Christ and was a member of Campbellsville Christian Church.

She was a proud graduate of Centre College in 1946, having received a Bachelor of Science Degree. She was a retired math teacher and librarian, church secretary, volunteer at The Daughter's of American Revolution and employee of Dewure High School in Zinbabwe and an avid supporter of Central African Mission Service

She united in marriage to Doug Johnson January 2, 1945. He preceded her in death June 28, 1989.

She is survived by the following:
  • Three sons: Dr. Mark Cundiff Johnson and wife, Marcia Snider of St. Louis, Missouri; Lynn Hughes Johnson and wife, Dr. Sally Sperring of Ellettsville, Indiana; and Peter Martin Johnson and wife, Karen Cole of Elizabethtown, KY

  • Seven grandchildren: Katharine Powell and husband, Andy of Cincinnati, OH; Aaron Johnson of St. Louis, Missouri; Elizabeth McConaghy and husband, Kyle of Los Angeles, CA; Savannah Atlas and husband, Rees of St. Thomas, Virgin Islands; Sylva Johnson of Bloomington, Indiana; Andrew Johnson and wife, Emily of and Anna Johnson of Elizabethtown, KY

  • Two great-grandchildren: Ben Powell and Jack Powell

  • Two brothers-in-law: David Lewis Johnson and wife, Norma Jean and Norman Allen Johnson of Campbellsville, KY

  • Several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Edith Walker and two brothers in infancy.
