William Ralph Burgess, Russell County, KY (1925-2014)

He was a native of Wayne County, KY, a former resident of Russell County, KY, and was a resident of Jessamine County, KY, at the time of his death. He was the son of the late Willie & Myrtie Huckaby Burgess. He leave 33 direct and one step living descendants. He worked in construction as a welder, a member of Church of God and a Veteran of US Navy.

William Ralph Burgess, 89, of Wilmore, KY, (formerly of Russell County) died Sunday, September 28, 2014 at the Thomson-Hood Veterans in Wilmore.

Funeral services for William Ralph Burgess will be 1pmCT, Friday, October 3, 2014 at the Bernard Funeral Home Chapel, 367 N Main Street, with Bro. Joe Cox officiating. Visitation will be after 10amCT, Friday at the funeral home. Burial in the Elk Springs Cemetery in Monticello, KY.



Pallbearers: Josh Burgess, Eric Burgess, Bryan Burgess, Derrick Proctor, Isaac Burgess, Zane Burgess, John Loehle, and Matthew Loehle.

William Ralph Burgess, Russell County, KY (1925-2014)

He was born Thursday, June 11, 1925 in Monticello, Wayne County, KY. He was the son to the late Willie & Myrtie Huckaby Burgess. He died Sunday, September 28, 204, in Wilmore, Jessamore County, KY, at the age of 89 years, three months and 17 days.

He worked in construction as a welder, a member of Church of God and a Veteran of US Navy.

In addition to his parents,he was preceded in death by his first wife, Ella Mabel Morgan Burgess and later married Lilian George Burgess who also preceded him in death. Also preceded in death by two sons, Billy Dale Burgess, James Darrell Burgess; three brothers, Haywood Burgess, Billy Burgess, Stanley Burgess; three sisters, Phyllis Bell, Betty Hill, Louise Fairchild.

Survivors include the following:
  • Four children: Gary (Sheryl) Burgess, Russell Springs, KY; Sandy (Mike) Loehle, TN; Joe (Louanne) Burgess, Wilmore, KY; and Pamela (David) Proctor, Elizabethtown, KY

  • One step daughter: Cletta McKinney, Russell Springs, KY

  • Fourteen grandchildren

  • Fifteen great grandchildren

  • Three sisters: Edna Whaley, Cincinnati, Ohio; Joyce Chitwood, Florence, KY; and Ruth Konen, Florence, KY
The family requests memorials to Wounded Warriors. These can be made at the funeral home.
