Scam Alert: Victims told to send Pay Pal Money for $450 to claim Writer got call from Jamaica claiming to be Publishers Clearing House. When she got home to tell her husband, turns out he had 'won' the same prize. Both were savvy and didn't bite, but they wonder how many do? Click on headline for complete story By Heidi Caron Calls from Jamaica claiming to be Publishers Clearing House. Says he's calling from Frankfort, KY and that you've just won 1.5 million dollars and a 2014 Mercedes Benz worth 150 grand. To be delivered today! Wow huh! All you have to do is pay half the taxes for the car ($450) and its all yours. He tells you to write down his name and the certified check number for the 1.5 mil and a verification number. Then he tells you to go to your local drug store or Dollar General and get a PayPal money pack scratch card for the $450 and give him the 10 digit number on the back. I don't know the rest because I was walking around K-Mart during the call and asking him stupid questions because I was bored. I finally asked where he was really from and that this was a scam. At this point we were on the phone for about 15 minutes. He got sooo mad at me! He says "weren't you listening to me? Why are you being so stupid!" I was laughing so hard I just hung up. But I was thinking how many people will think this is real. So here's the story: I came home from shopping and asked him where the Tv crew was and my 1.5 million dollar check. My husband got the same call. Oh yeah, this guy tells you not to tell anyone what the PayPal card is for, it's nobody business. --Heidi Caron This story was posted on 2014-09-27 14:19:17
