Inell Kerr Brewington Burns, Cumberland Co., KY (1935-2014)

She was the matriarch of a large, highly regarded family. She was a native of Clay County, Tennessee, and a resident of Cumberland County, KY, at the time of her death. She was the daughter of the late Millard "Bud" Kerr and Pearl Short Kerr She was a member of Hickory Grove Church of Christ, a former owner of Brewington's Grocery for 17 years, and a homemaker.

Inell Brewington Burns age 78 of Burkesville, KY passed away on Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at Greenview Regional Hospital in Bowling Green, KY.

Funeral service will be Friday, September 19, 2014 at 11amCT, at Ballou & Stotts Funeral Home, 304 North Main Street, Burkesville, KY with Gary Kerr and Tom Watson officiating. Burial will be in Dodson Cemetery. Family requests visitation after 4pmCT, Thursday, September 18, 2014 at Ballou & Stotts Funeral Home in Burkesville.



Pallbearers: Lance Cash, Ethan Cash, Michael Brown, Pat Burns, Bill Burns, and Darrell Hopper.

Honorary Pallbearers: Lanny Smith, J.R. Bronger, Jim Simpson, Kim McCoy, Kenny Brown, Curt Jarvis, Tom Wilkinson, Dr. Richard Clouse, Dr. Robert Flowers.

Inell Brewington Burns, Cumberland Co., KY (1935-2014)


Inell was born on September 29, 1935 in Clay County, Tennessee. She was the daughter of the late Millard "Bud" Kerr and Pearl Short Kerr. She died Tuesday, September 16, 2014, in Bowling Green, Warren County, KY, at the age of 78 years, 11 months, and 18 days.

She was a member of Hickory Grove Church of Christ, a former owner of Brewington's Grocery for 17 years, and a homemaker.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, Keith Allen Brewington, six brothers, Wheeler Kerr, Jack Kerr, Prentis Kerr, Osby Kerr, Fred Kerr, and Frank Kerr, four sisters, Gladys Wilson, Dellie Watson, Dessie Kerr, Thelma Kerr, and one son-in-law, Ronnie Cash.

Survivors include:
  • Her husband: Arthur Burns of Burkesville, KY

  • One son: Mark Brewington and his wife Dana of Burkesville, KY

  • Two daughters: Martha Wheat and Donna Cash both of Burkesville, KY

  • Two step sons: Pat Burns and his wife Kathy, and Bill Burns and his wife Jenny all of Burkesville, KY

  • Two step daughters: Pam Polston and her husband Kenny of Burkesville, KY and Tammy Stearns and her companion Ricky Jessee of Glasgow, KY

  • One brother: Albert Kerr of Tompkinsville, KY

  • Three sisters: Lillie Purdam and Vinnie Cunningham both of Marion, Indiana; and Nina Hopper of Burkesville, KY

  • Five grandchildren: Mandi Wheat, Kristi(Michael)Brown, Lance Cash, Ethan Cash, and Olivia Brewington

  • Five great grandchildren: Braxton Brown, Barret Brown, Bryson Cash, McKinley Brown, and Michaela Houp

  • One great great grandchild: Kayden Houp

  • Thirteen step grandchildren

  • Seventeen step great grandchildren

  • and a host of other relatives and friends
