IT'S TONGHT - The Payroll Tax Informational Meeting at City Hall

- The Columbia City Council will hold an informational meeting tonight, Monday, September 8, 2014, at 6pmCT, at City Hall, 116 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY, on the proposed payroll tax which would take effect January 1, 2014, if enacted. Readers are invited to send comments or questions today. They will be posted as time permits. Comments or questions must be written within CM's general code of Civil Discourse, and should be about issues, not personalities. - EW

Background information has been provided online at CM, and is always available at City Hall. Two very important background documents online at CM include:
  1. Charts from the slide presentation presented by Council Revenue Committee's June Parson, Craig Dean, and Robert Flowers. See most of the charts from the presentation at Council adopts recommendation to implement new tax, tax rate. The presentation is scheduled to be given again tonight.
  2. The 9-Page Proposed Ordinance (WORKING COPY) of the "Occupational License Tax, City of Columbia, Ordinance No. 430.15/PDF
A second reading of the proposal is scheduled for the 6pmCT, October 6, 2014, regular meeting of the Council. Because this would be a public meeting, citizen comment is allowed.
