Flossie Elizabeth Skaggs McAfee, 102, Green Co., KY (1912-2014)

She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Ladies Chapel United Methodist Church where she was a Sunday school teacher over 45 years of the same class. She was also co-owner of McAfee's Grocery. She was the daughter of the late Lee S. Skaggs and the late Rosie Ella Judd Skaggs, and the widow of Pauley Poindexter McAfee. She leaves 18 direct living descendants and five step descendants.

Mrs. Flossie Elizabeth Skaggs McAfee, 102 years of age, departed this life on Friday, August 15, 2014 at the Golden Living Center-Green Hill, Greensburg, KY.

The funeral services for Mrs. Flossie Elizabeth Skaggs McAfee will be conducted at 10amCT, Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home, 206 S Main Street, Greensburg, KY, with burial to follow in the Bethlehem Cemetery, by Bethlehem Baptist Church, 526 Temperance Road, Greensburg, KY. Bro. Garnett Wayne Davis will be officiating. Visitation is requested from 4pm-8pmCT, Monday, August 18, 2014, at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home and after 7amCT, Tuesday until time of the funeral service.


Flossie Elizabeth Skaggs McAfee, 102, Green County, KY (1912-2014)

Mrs. Flossie Elizabeth Skaggs McAfee of Green County, Kentucky, daughter of the late Lee S. Skaggs and Rosie Ella Judd Skaggs, was born on Tuesday, April 30, 1912 in Green County, KY and departed this life on Friday, August 15, 2014 in Greensburg, Green County, KY. She was 102 years, three months, and 16 days of age.

She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Ladies Chapel United Methodist Church where she was a Sunday school teacher over 45 years of the same class. She was also co-owner of McAfee's Grocery.

She united in marriage to Pauley Poindexter McAfee who preceded her in death on January 12, 1994.

Survivors include the following:
  • A son and daughter-in-law: Kenneth Dewayne and Lillie McAfee of South Carolina

  • Two daughters and sons-in-law: Nancy Carol McAfee Puryear and Leslie Puryear of Danville, KY; and Charlotte Ann McAfee Velez and Gus Velez of Elizabethtown, KY

  • Six grandchildren and their spouses: Anne Leslie and Billy Matney of Greensburg, KY; Keith and Ann Marie McAfee of North Carolina; Michael and Nazanim McAfee of California; Angela and Lance Radebaugh of Lexington, KY; Valerie and Richard Weld of California, and David and Erika Puryear of Paris, Kentucky

  • Seven great-grandchildren

  • Two great-great-grandchildren

  • Two step-grandchildren

  • Three step-great-great-grandchildren

  • And a host of other relatives and friends
Mrs. McAfee was also preceded in death by two children, Milford Graham McAfee and Barbara Geraldine McAfee; two sisters, Mary Sylvia Simpson and Nina Mildred Murray. Memorials are suggested to the Gideon Bible Fund or the Ladies Chapel United Methodist Church, which can be made at the funeral home.
