She was the matriarch of a large, respected family. She was the daughter of Tom and Pearlie Turner Smith. She leaves 55 direct living descendants.

Sylvia Sue Smith, age 71, died August 2, 2014 at the St Thomas Hospital in Nashville, TN.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, August 6 at 11amCT, at the Willow Shade Baptist Church, Metcalfe County, KY, with Bro. Don Howard officiating. Burial will follow in the Beaumont Cemetery. Visitation will begin Monday August 4 at 4pmCT. and continue Tuesday at 7amCT, and Wednesday from 7amCT until 9:30amCT and after10amCT, at the church.



Sylvia Sue Smith, Metcalfe County, KY (1943-2014)

She was born in Edmonton, Metcalfe County, KY, on May 4, 1943. She was the daughter of the late Tom and Pearlie Turner Smith. She died Saturday, August 2, 2014, in Nashville, Davidson County, Tennessee, at the age of 71 years, two months, and 29 days.

She was a homemaker and of the Baptist Faith.

She is survived by the following:
  • Four daughters: Kathy Faulkner, Brenda Nance and Linda Vibbert of Edmonton, KY; and Donna Furkin of Tompkinsville, KY

  • Two sons: Tony Parrish and Freddy Parrish

  • Twenty one grandchildren, Jill, Kim, Eric and Clay Faulkner, Tommy Parrish, Chris Parrish, Felichia Furkin, Carson, Marketta, Lynn, Sunshine and Travis Vibbert, Teresa and Lisa Parrish, Linda Muse, Barbara Ann Parrish, Anthony Parrish, Nancy and Freddy Parrish Jr., Rickey (Pete) and David Hammer and Tamara McCoy

  • And 28 great grandchildren

  • Two sisters: Dina Smith of Edmonton, KY, and Earlene Smith of Eunice, KY
In addition to her parents, she was preceeded in death by one daughter Tammy McCoy, two infant grandsons and one brother Bobby Smith.
