John Ford: For free market - but applauds Somerset's solution Personal opinion John Ford writes: Dear Mr Piplaski glad to read your reply. Maybe you should re-read my response to your letter. I don't advocate that the government provide us with cheaper gas. What I suggested was to allow competition to set the market price, something that is not being allowed in Adair County because a major player in the gas business was denied access to this market place. I do applaud the solution that the Somerset government came up with because it broke up a monopolistic entity that was harming the community in my opinion. That, Mr Piplaski, using your words: 4. Promote (not provide) the General Welfare. The general welfare is harmed when a product that everyone has to have in order to function in our modern society is artificially priced because competition is not allowed to flourish. You can claim patriotism all you want, sir, but when your actions harm the general population then it appears very self serving and makes this reader question your true motive. - John FordComments re article 68876 Ed Pipalski Price objectors could open own gas stations This story was posted on 2014-08-04 03:17:23
