Lake Area Foundation submits National Standards Documentation

Click on headline for complete story

By Judy Hachey

Yevette Haskins, Lake Area Foundation Chair, and Donna Diaz, Executive Director, presented a copy of the community foundation's Council on Foundations National Standards documentation submittal to Commissioner Tony Wilder, Department for Local Government, for consideration by the Endow Kentucky Commission.

In legislation passed by Kentucky's General Assembly, a community foundation meeting the requirements for National Standards for Community Foundations may also submit a copy of the National Standards submittal (to the Kentucky Department for Local Government) to be recognized by the Endow Kentucky Commission, thereby qualifying donors to Lake Area Foundation funds for a 20% state income tax credit.

The Lake Area Foundation Regional Board of Directors and local advisory committees have worked along with staff over the past 1 1/2 years to achieve this goal.

The Endow Kentucky Tax Credit was enacted in order to encourage philanthropy throughout the state.
