Michael Giles, Adair Co., KY (1946-2014)

He was a native of Adair County, KY, and a resident of Underwood, IN, at the time of his death. He was the son of the late Thomas Van Giles and Thelma Irene Hopkins. He is survived by his wife, Lindaa Barrett-Giles. He leaves many relatives in Adair County, KY, as well as Indiana. He was a retired employee of Cummins Engine Company Columbus, Indiana, and owned and operated Giles Trucking Company.

Michael Giles, 68, of Underwood, Indiana formerly of Adair County, KY. passed away Sunday, July 13, 2014 in Seville, Florida.

Funeral Service will be at 10amCT/11amET, Saturday, July 19, 2014 at Buchanan Funeral Home, 115 N Second Street, Austin, Scott County, Indiana with Rev. Phil LaMaster officiating. Visitation will be 3pm-7pmCT/4pm-8pmET, Friday and after 9 am Saturday at Buchanan Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Cana Cemetery, Uniontown, IN.

He was born April 4, 1946 in Adair County, KY, to the late Thomas Van Giles and Thelma Irene Hopkins. He died Sunday, July 13, 2014, in Seville, Volusia County, FL, at the age of 68 years, three months, and 10 days.

He married Linda (Barrett) Giles on June 10, 1989.

He was a retired employee of Cummins Engine Company Columbus, Indiana, and owned and operated Giles Trucking Company.

Survivors include:
  • His wife: Linda Barrett-Giles of Underwood, Indiana

  • Son: Michael C. (Kelli) Giles of Hope, Indiana

  • Grandchildren: Alexandra (Shane) Ford, Samantha Giles and Danielle Giles
  • Sisters: Frances (Bill) Reynolds, of Columbia, KY., Judy (Dwight) Jones Brownstown, IN; and Janie (Lonnie) Spicer of Columbus, IN

  • Brothers: Charles (Nadine) Giles of Columbia, KY, and Frank D. Giles of Florida He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Thelma Hopkins and Thomas Van Giles and a brother: Travis "Buck" Giles.
