Betty Pierce, Adair County, KY (1936-2014) Betty Ellen Pierce, 77, of Columbia, died Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at 6:35 A.M. at Norton Audubon Hospital in Louisville, KY.

The funeral service will be Saturday, July 19, 2014 at 11amCT, at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY, with Bro. Willard Parson officiating. Burial will be in Haven Hill Cemetery, 1276 Liberty Road, Columbia, KY. Visitation will be after 4pmCT, Friday, July 18, 2014, at the funeral home.


Casket bearers: Christopher Smiley, Wesley Taylor, Coby Taylor, Ryan Hadley, Benji Coffey and Chase Holmes.

Betty Pierce, Adair County, KY (1936-2014)

She was born November 18, 1936, in Adair County, KY. She was the daughter of the late Hubert Hovious & Iva Beard, who survives. She died Wednesday, July 16, 2014, in Louisville, Jefferson County, KY, at the age of 77 years, seven months, and 28 days.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Pierce.

She was a member of New Concord Church, a homemaker and an avid gardener.

Survivors include the following:
  • Her mother: Iva Beard Stotts of Columbia, KY

  • Two daughters: Sharon Pierce & Charlotte Campbell both of Columbia, KY

  • One brother: Hubert Hovious of Chicago, IL

  • One sister: Wanda Hovious of Columbia, KY

  • Three grandchildren: Sherry Holmes, Christopher Smiley, Julie Taylor and her husband, Wesley

  • Five great-grandchildren: Caitlin and Chase Holmes, and Cassie, Coby and Cady Taylor
