Mrs. Doris Richerson Kelly, Green Co., KY (1936-2014)

She worked at the (previous) Greensburg Deposit Bank until retirement, and was a Vice-President at that time. Mrs. Kelly had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Greensburg Baptist Church, where she served as treasurer for several years. She had spent the last four years at Azalea Hills Assisted Living Facility in Floyds Knobs, Indiana. She was a Taylor County native, a longtime resident of Green County, and a resident of Floyd County, IN, a the time of her death. Her marriage to Rex Kelly endured over 54 years until his death in 2010. She leaves five direct living descendants.

Mrs. Doris Richerson Kelly, 77, of Indiana, formerly of Greensburg, Kentucky, departed this life on Monday, July 7, 2014 in New Albany, Indiana.

The funeral services for Mrs. Doris Richerson Kelly will be conducted at 10amCT, Thursday, July 10, 2014 at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home, 206 S Main Street, Greensburg, KY, with burial to follow in the Greensburg Cemetery. Bro. Blake Jessie will be officiating. Visitation is requested from 3pm until 8pmCT, Wednesday at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home, 206 S Main Street, Greensburg, KY and after 7amCT, Thursday until time of the funeral service.



Pallbearers: Clayton Knotts, Nate Knotts, Zack Knotts, Ronnie Moran, and Arzo "Skillett" Miller.

Mrs. Doris Richerson Kelly was the daughter of the late Woodrow Richerson and Dewell Benningfield Richerson. She was born on September 2, 1936 in Taylor County, Kentucky, and departed this life on Monday, July 7, 2014 in New Albany, Floyd County, Indiana. She was 77 years, 10 months, and five days of age.

She worked at the (previous) Greensburg Deposit Bank until retirement, and was a Vice-President at that time. Mrs. Kelly had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Greensburg Baptist Church, where she served as treasurer for several years. She had spent the last four years at Azalea Hills Assisted Living Facility in Floyds Knobs, Indiana. While there she enjoyed reading books, papers (especially the Record-Herald), devotionals and keeping up with her many Greensburg friends.

She united in marriage to Rexford "Rex" Dwayne Kelly on February 9, 1956. He preceded her in death on June 15, 2010.

Survivors include the following:
  • Three daughters and a son-in-law: Sherry and Clayton Knotts of Indiana, Kimberly Kelly of Texas, and Shannon Kelly of New York

  • Two grandsons: Nate Knotts and Zack Knotts both of Louisville, KY

  • Four siblings: Wilma Mercer of North Carolina, Midge Baine of Lawrenceburg, Keith Richerson of Shepherdsville, and Peggy Parson of Indiana; and a host of other relatives and friends.
The family has asked that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Greensburg Baptist Church Building Fund, which can be made at the funeral home.
