He leaves three direct living descendants.

Patrick Gene Smith, 38, of Russell Springs, KY died Thursday, July 3, 2014 at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN.

Funeral service for Patrick Gene Smith will be 10amCT, Monday, July 7, 2014, at the Mt. Hope Separate Baptist Church with Bro. Randy Brown, Bro. Danny Bailey & Bro. Harold Coomer officiating. Visitation will be after 5pmCT, Sunday, July 6, 2014, at Bernard Funeral Home, 367 N Main Street, Russell Springs, KY, and after 8amCT, Monday at the church. Burial will be in the Phelps Cemetery.

Active pallbearers: Ricky Jones, Billy Bowmer, Gary L. Brown, Barry Hix, Wayne Smith, and Lance Johnson.

Honorary pallbearers: Randy McFall, John McFall, Ronnie McFall, Steve McFall, J.J. Wilson, Bruce Hogue, and Jeff Pettyjohn.

He was born July 26, 1975 in Somerset, KY. He was the son of Jeffrey Van & Mary Ellen Myers Smith. He died Thursday, July 3, 2014, in Nashville, Davidson County, TN, at the age of 38 years, 11 months, and five days.

He was an employee of Bennett's Carpets. Patrick professed his faith in Jesus Christ and was set aside as a deacon at Mt. Hope Separate Baptist Church. He loved fishing.

He was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, A.G. & Okra Smith; and maternal grandparents, Earl & Loeta Myers Survivors include the following:
  • His wife: Stephanie Smith, Russell Springs, KY

  • Three children: Nancy George, Kaitlyn George, Greg George, all of Russell Springs, KY

  • Parents: Jeff & Mary Ellen Smith, Russell Springs, KY

  • Sister: Melinda (Waylon) Wright, Russell Springs, KY

  • Two nieces: Madalyn Wright and Catherine Wright, of Russell Springs, KY

  • Nephew: Lucian Wright, Russell Springs, KY

  • Two aunts: Lela Hix, Princeton, KY Paula (Dean) Johnson, Russell Springs, KY
