My uncle, Earl Wilson from Casey County, finally received his Purple Hearts from Vietnam War. They had ceremony yesterday, July 2, 2014 at the Central Kentucky Ag Expo in Liberty, KY.

Uncle Earl was injured twice while serving in Vietnam, and his medal shows two Purple Hearts.

My cousins and Uncle Earl's daughters started the process to have the medals finally awarded. We are so proud of Uncle Earl.

There were some 200 people there. U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell was there, as were State Senator Jimmy Higdon and State Representative Jeff Hoover, who represent Casey County in Frankfort.

It was thrilling to see the flag line set up by the Patriot Guard Riders.

The writer of this story, Frances Salyers, lives in Casey Creek, KY. She and her husband Daryl Salyers have a beautiful farm there. He's a school bus driver for the Adair County Board of Education, and together, they are proprietors of D & F Grocery & Deli, Edmonton Road, in Gradyville, KY.
