Carol June (Whitlow) McMurtrey, 75, Summer Shade, KY (1938-2014)

She was the daughter of the late Robert and helen Mackey Whitlow, and the widow of the late Kenneth McMurtrey. She leaves 11 direct living descendants. They were married March 18, 1955. She was a homemaker, loving mother and grandmother, and a member of the Summer Shade Missionary Baptist Church

Carol June McMurtrey, age 75, of Summer Shade, died June 28, 2014 at The Medical Center in Bowling Green, KY.

Funeral services will be Wednesday July 2, 2014 at 1pmCT, at the McMurtrey Funeral Home, 2232 Summer Shade, KY, with Bro. Larry Cooksey, officiating. Burial will follow in the Summer Shade Cemetery. Visitation will begin Monday, June 30, 2014 at 4pmCT, continuing Tuesday, and Wednesday until time of services, at the funeral home.

She was born Thursday, August 25, 1938. She was the daughter of the late Robert and Helen Mackey Whitlow. She died June 28, 2014, in Bowling Green, Warren County, KY, at the age of 75 years, 10 months, and three days.

She was the widow of the late Kenneth McMurtrey.They were married March 18, 1955.

She was a homemaker, loving mother and grandmother, and a member of the Summer Shade Missionary Baptist Church.

She is survived by the following:
  • Six daughters: Charlotte (Rick) Fields, Summer Shade, KY; Teresa (Jeff) Welsh, Temple Hill, KY; Janet (Mitchell) Pedigo, Summer Shade, KY; Chris (Benny) Lile, Center, KY; Rhonda (Wayne) Lockwood, Elizabethtown, KY; and Robin McMurtrey, Summer Shade, KY

  • Five grandchildren: Adam (Heather) Welsh, Tara Pedigo, Cameron and Casey Lile, and Allan Lockwood

  • One brother in law: Dale Rowlett

  • And two sister in laws: Joan Whitlow, and Carol Ann McMurtrey
She was also preceded in death by one sister, Myra Gail Rowlett and one brother Robert Norris Whitlow.

Memorials may be made to the Summer Shade Fire Department or the charity of your choice.
