Betty Jo Sneed, Adair County, KY (1946-2014)

She was a member of the Columbia Church of God and had worked at area garment factories. She was the matriarch of a large, respected Adair County, KY, family. She was born in Adair County, KT and was a resident of the county at the time of her death. She was the daughter of the late Johnie F. & Delie Mcqueary. Her husband, William A. Sneed,survives. She leaves seven direct living descendants.

Betty Jo Sneed age 68 years of Columbia, KY passed away Saturday, June 28, 2014 at 1:45amCT, at her home after a brief illness.

Funeral service will be Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at 1pmCT, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Hom, 210 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY, Rev. Gene Conover the officiating clergy. Interment in the Haven Hill Cemetery, 1276 Liberty Road, Columbia, KY. Visitation will begin after 4pmCT, on Monday, June 30, 2014, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home.

She was born on Saturday, February 16, 1946 in Adair County, KY. She was the daughter of the late Johnnie F. & Delie McQueary. She died Saturday, June 28, 2014, in Columbia, Adair County, KY, at the age of 68 years, four months, and 12 days.

Preceded in death by one brother: Thelbert Burton.

She is survived by her husband William A. Sneed of Columbia, KY, and the following:
  • Two sons: Keiven A. (Paula) Sneed of Columbia, KY, and William Braden (Jennifer Kay) Sneed of Columbia, KY

  • Two brothers: Prenith Burton of Glasgow, KY; and John Phillip Burton of Columbia, KY

  • Four sisters: Margie McKenzie of Louisville, KY; Kathryn Burton of Columbia, KY; Barbara Lee Churchill of Palm Desert, California; and Georgia Mings of Campbellsville, KY

  • Three grandchildren; Jessica (Spencer) Hansel, Jacob Allen Sneed and Emily Jo Sneed

  • Several nieces and nephews and a host of other friends and relatives
She was a member of the Columbia Church of God and had worked at area garment factories.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of a donation to the American Cancer Society or Hospice of Green River and may be made at the funeral home.
