Rules
  1. Judging will begin at 1:15 pm, on Wednesday, July 9, 2014, during which time, no persons other than judges and fair personnel shall be therein.
  2. All Floral Hall exhibits must be removed on Sunday, July 13, 2014, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm. No one will be responsible for any item that is not removed by 2:00 pm on Sunday, July 13, 2014.
  3. EXHIBITOR ENTRY FORMS will be used for entering items in Floral Hall. Exhibitor Entry Forms may be picked up at the Adair County Extension Office at 409 Fairgrounds Street in Columbia, prior to the County Fair. Exhibitor Entry Forms will also be available on Tuesday, July 9 and Wednesday, July 9, 2014. However, exhibitors are encouraged to obtain and complete the Exhibitor Entry Form prior to bringing items to Floral Hall. Exhibitor Entry Forms will serve as a claim ticket for items to be picked upon Sunday, July 13, 2014 from 1 pm to 2 pm. Exhibitors will receive a copy of the Entry Form, upon completion of the entries at Floral Hall. The Entry Form must be retained by the exhibitor and presented to the Superintendent before items can be released on Sunday. Items will not be released prior to Sunday, July 13, 2014 at 1:00 pm. If items are lost and/or goods taken by anyone other than the owner, responsibility of the Fair Committee shall cease. There are no fees to enter items into the Floral Hall competition. The columns of numbers to the right of each entry listed in the catalog denotes the dollar premium for the first, second and third prize winners.
  4. The Fair Committee has the option to discard food as it spoils. For a complete list of food rules, see Food Section. Note the rule in Foods and Canning-- only one exhibit per exhibitor per class.
  5. The Fair Committee will not pay for anything damaged or lost while on exhibition, but will endeavor to exercise proper care to prevent loss or damage.
  6. All ribbons won on articles in Floral Hall must remain on same unit until check-out time.
  7. If an entry does not warrant a blue ribbon, judge may refuse to give one.
  8. Any article that has been awarded a premium at this County Fair in past years is not eligible to compete for a premium. No article in a collection can be shown singly.
  9. "Best of Show" will be chosen from each category and awarded a Rosette.
  10. The columns of numbers to the right of each entry listed in the catalog denotes the dollar premium for the first, second and third prize winners.

Other than baby and lap quilts, quilts must have a perimeter of at least 300 inches.

Foods

Rules
  1. Only one exhibit per exhibitor per class.
  2. All entries must be entered with a protective coating. Ziploc bags preferred.
  3. Judging will be based on: Appearance--25%, Taste and texture--75%.
  4. Exhibitor will be required to bring cake to be judged, except decorated cakes. The cake will remain for the duration of the Fair.
  5. Decorated cakes will be judged on decorations only. Dummy bases can be used.
  6. Standard pie sizes will be required.
  7. Exhibitor will be required to bring 1/2 loaf of bread, or one mini-loaf.
  8. The Fair Committee has the option to remove food if it spoils.
  9. A "Queen of The Kitchen" will be awarded. Rules are:
    1. Fair participant must enter 10 items in the Foods Department, with at least one item from each of the following: Breads, Cakes, Pies, Candies, Cookies.
    2. Winner will be decided on the following point system: All first place winners: 10 points.
      All second place winners: 5 points.
      All third place winners: 2 points.
    3. Persons who have won two years consecutively will be retired as "Queen of The Kitchen Supreme". They will not be allowed to compete for this award again, but may continue to enter exhibits for ribbons and prize money.

Entries in the For Men Only category may not enter the same item in two categories, ie 1/2 cake in For Men Only, and the other 1/2 cake in Cakes.
