Robert Grider, 84, Russell County, KY (1930-2014)

He was a member of a large respected Russell County, KY family. He was a native of Jamestown, KY, and a resident of the city at the time of his death. He was the son of the late Otha B. Grider and Rosa Lee (Blankenship) Grider. He leaves 22 direct and four step living descendants. He was a laborer.

Robert Grider, age 84, Leach Road, Jamestown, KY, died , Tuesday, June 24, 2014, at 3:43pmCT, at Somerwood Nursing and Rehab, Somerset, KY.

The funeral service will be at H.E. Pruitt Memory Chapel, 202 N Main Street, Jamestown, KY, at 12pm noon CT, Friday, June 27, 2014, with Bro. Roger Garner officiating. Burial will be in Rexroat Cemetery, Jamestown, KY. Visitation will be after 10amCT, Friday, at the funeral home.

He was the son of the late Otha B. Grider and Rosa Lee (Blankenship) Grider. He was born Saturday, February 22, 1930, in Jamestown, Russell County, KY. He died Tuesday, June 24, 2014, at the age of 84 years, 4 months, and 2 days.

He was a laborer.

He is survived by the following:
  • Three sons: David (Krista) Grider, Jamestown, KY; J.F. Grider, Russell Springs, KY; and Mark Grider, Jamestown, KY

  • Three daughters: Phyllis Hadley, Russell Springs, KY; Joyce (Oscar) Lee, Windsor, KY; and Shanna (Thomas) Sayers, Liberty, KY

  • One brother: Everett Grider, Franklin, IN

  • One sister: Tiny Conner, Franklin, IN

  • Twelve grandchildren

  • Seven step grandchildren

  • Four great grandchildren
He was preceded in death by four brothers: Roy, John, Claude, and Cordell Grider; four sisters: Agnes Cain, Leia Ballenger, Edith Bernard, and Dorothy Ballenger.

The H.E. Pruitt Memory Chapel, 202 N Main Street, Jamestown, KY, in charge of arrangements.
