The Whitehurst Diaries - a visit to Green River Tractor show It's a highlight of Jim Whitehurst's year, one he eagerly anticipates. He was rewarded this year with the sight of all the tractors, especially the old Cockshutt 20 Click on headline for introduction and photo(s) By Sharon Whitehurst The Annual Green River Tractor Show is an eagerly anticipated event for Jim Whitehurst. Jim buys, sells, refurbishes and trades a never-ending roster of vintage tractors which call to mind his earlier years on a Vermont farm. Jim loaded a current favorite 1958 Massey 50 behind old 'Snort'n Nort'n' [ his cherished 92 Dodge Cummins] and headed for the Home Place on Green River, yesterday, in spite of dark clouds and a spatter of rain. By the time Jim strolled along the rows of tractors sunshine gleamed on shiny hood and fenders. The old Cockshut--something of a rarity--was one that caught Jim's eye. No. Before anyone asks: Jim didn’t buy a tractor yesterday! There are several still in our dooryard awaiting diagnosis and parts! This story was posted on 2014-06-22 09:06:07
